Do I need to delete old events from the microSD card, to make room for the new events?

No, the camera is smart enough to handle the storage. When the microSD card is full, the camera will overwrite the oldest footage and roll forward. When the microSD card gets full, the oldest hour of recordings is deleted. That continues every time the card gets full.
