Questions, answered.

Does it really work with Apple Home?

Yes - it's a native Matter device. Pair via the Matter QR code, no bridge needed, and it shows up in Apple Home directly. The same QR also adds it to Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings.

Can I use it with a heater or boiler?

Yes - unlike a Zigbee mini, the Basic Gen5 handles resistive heating loads. Up to 10A means small heaters, kettles and similar appliances are fine. For a high-power water heater (15A+), use a smart breaker instead.

Do I need a hub?

No. It connects directly to your home Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz). It's a standalone Wi-Fi + Matter device - it won't appear inside a Zigbee bridge.

Will it work with my HVAC system?

If your HVAC controller has a dry-contact input (a low-voltage thermostat connection), yes - the Gen5 simulates the thermostat closing the circuit. Most modern systems support this; check with your installer if unsure.

Can I control it without a physical switch?

Yes - you can wire it without a wall switch at all. Control it entirely from the app, voice or scenes. Ideal for remote-only appliances: water pumps, garden irrigation, server-room fans.

What happens when EDL cuts and comes back?

Set the Power-on State to "Last State" in eWeLink. When EDL returns, the relay goes back to exactly how it was, and Wi-Fi reconnects automatically once your router is up.

What's the difference vs the MINIR4M?

Both support Matter. The MINIR4M is shaped to fit behind a wall switch so you keep using the physical switch. The Basic Gen5 is a standalone relay for appliances or installs with no wall switch. Pick based on where you're installing.
