Connect the RJ9 plug into the side of your Sonoff TH Elite or TH Origin. Moisture reading appears in eWeLink instantly.

Set the threshold
In eWeLink → Smart Scene → "When soil moisture < 30%" → trigger pump for 60 seconds (or alert your phone).

Sit back
Plants water themselves. You see live moisture in the app. Alerts ping you only when something is wrong.

Does the probe work as a standalone device? ›
No - it needs a Sonoff TH Elite or TH Origin to read the moisture value and (optionally) control a pump or valve. Buy them together if you don't already have a TH.
What's the cable length? ›
50 cm from the RJ9 plug to the probe tip - enough for a flower pot on the balcony next to the TH. If you need more reach, see the next answer.
How far from the TH can the probe sit? ›
Up to 10 m with a standard phone-line extension. The TH itself stays indoors (covered, plugged in), the probe goes into the pot or garden bed.
Can I leave the probe outdoors? ›
The probe tip is fine in soil. Put the RJ9 plug + cable inside any IP65 junction box to keep rain off the connector.
How do I set automatic watering? ›
Wire a small water pump (or solenoid valve) to the TH Elite output. In eWeLink, create an automation: "When soil moisture < 30% → turn on pump for 60 seconds." Save. Forget about your plants for the summer.
Will it work during EDL outages? ›
The TH device itself needs power, so during a full blackout the pump won't run. On a generator setup it works normally. Set Power-on State to "Last State" so it resumes properly after a cut.
Can I use it with my existing watering timer? ›
Not directly - this is a moisture probe, not a timer. But it's better: the soil tells you when to water instead of guessing. Wire a pump or valve to the TH and let moisture drive the watering.
