Assign scenes to gestures
In the app, map each gesture (shake, flip, rotate, tap, push) to a scene. Start with "All lights off" on shake - easy bedtime trigger.

Place it where you'll use it
Bedside, coffee table, desk. Anywhere within 30 m of the hub. No wires needed.

Iterate
Try the scenes for a week, swap them around. The cube replaces a half-dozen wall switches with one cube you can pick up.

Does it need a hub? ›
Yes - Aqara Cube uses Zigbee, so it talks through a hub, not directly to Wi-Fi. An Aqara Hub gives full Aqara Home features. Alternatives: Sonoff iHost or any Home Assistant setup with a Zigbee dongle.
How do I pair it? ›
Open your hub's app (Aqara Home, Sonoff iHost, etc.), tap "Add Zigbee Device → Cube", then long-press the small button inside the cube for 5 seconds. Pairing takes about 30 seconds.
Can each side do a different scene? ›
Yes - the 6 gestures map to 6 different scenes. "Flip to side X" can be Sleep mode. "Rotate clockwise" can dim lights. Fully customizable in the app.
Will it control non-Aqara devices? ›
Yes - the cube only sends gesture events to the hub. The hub fires whatever scene you've defined, which can include any brand of device connected to that hub (Govee lights, Sonoff switches, AC via Broadlink, etc.).
How long does the battery last? ›
6-12 months on the included CR2450. The Aqara app will warn you when it gets low - just pop in a fresh coin cell.
Will it work during EDL outages? ›
The cube runs on battery, so yes. The hub needs power - plug it into a UPS or generator circuit and your scenes keep working through cuts.
Is it compatible with Apple HomeKit? ›
Yes, when paired through an Aqara Hub - the cube shows up in Apple Home and gestures can fire HomeKit scenes.
