How It Works

1
Pick the right spot
Find a wall outlet 1-2 m from your gas stove or water heater. NOT directly above the source. For LPG, lower on the wall; for natural gas, higher near the ceiling.
2
Plug in + power up
Plug the sensor into the outlet. It boots in ~10 seconds and enters pairing mode (LED blinks fast).
3
Pair in Smart Life
Open Smart Life on your phone, tap +, choose 'Security & Sensor' → 'Gas Detector'. Follow the Wi-Fi prompt.
4
Test + automate
Press the self-test button — the siren should sound. In Smart Life, set up notifications and any automations (e.g. cut the gas circuit via smart breaker if a leak is detected).

SmartLife Smart Wi-Fi Gas Sensor & Alarm

This smart gas detector monitors your home for gas leaks (like LPG or natural gas) and immediately triggers a loud alarm and flashing LED if a leak is detected. It connects to your Wi-Fi, so you also get an instant notification on your phone through the Smart Life app — even if you’re not at home.

A simple but important safety device for your kitchen or anywhere you have a gas connection.

Key Features:

  • Loud 70dB Alarm + Flashing LED: Alerts everyone in the house immediately when gas is detected.
  • Phone Notifications: Get an instant alert on your phone via the Smart Life app, no matter where you are.
  • Wi-Fi Connected: No hub needed — connects directly to your home Wi-Fi.
  • Easy Installation: Plug it into a power outlet near your gas source.
  • Works with Google Assistant and Alexa: Ask your voice assistant about the sensor status.

💡 Pro Tip: Install the gas sensor within 1–2 meters of your gas stove or gas heater, but NOT directly above the stove. Gas rises, so mount it high on the wall near the ceiling for best detection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work on batteries?
No — it's AC-powered. Plug it into a wall outlet near (but not directly above) your gas source. Battery models exist from other brands but this one needs continuous mains power.
Is it easy to install?
Very — no electrician, no wiring. Plug it into a wall outlet near the gas stove or water heater, install the Smart Life app, scan the QR code on the device, follow the Wi-Fi prompt. 5 minutes total.
Where should I mount it?
Pro tip: install it 1-2 meters away from the gas stove or water heater, NOT directly above it. Gas (especially LPG, which is heavier than air) accumulates low — mount the sensor at low-mid height for LPG, or high near the ceiling for methane/natural gas.
Will it work during EDL outages?
Yes, as long as your generator or a backup power source is feeding the outlet. The sensor needs continuous power to detect leaks. Consider a UPS or generator-fed outlet for the kitchen if 24/7 coverage matters.
Can I get notifications if I'm away from home?
Yes — instant push notification through the Smart Life app, anywhere with internet. You can also configure SMS or email alerts via Smart Life routines.
Does it integrate with my other Smart Life devices?
Yes — same app as Tongou smart breakers, Smart Life bulbs, Tuya cameras. Build scenes like: gas detected → cut the gas-side electrical circuit (if you have a smart breaker on it) + send alert + flash the lights.
How long does the sensor last?
Typical gas sensor lifespan is 5+ years. The unit will self-test periodically and alert you if it needs replacement. Press the test button monthly to confirm it's working.
What gases does it detect?
LPG (most common in Lebanon), methane, and natural gas. It doesn't detect CO (carbon monoxide) — for CO you'd need a dedicated CO detector.
