What differentiates this model? what is its niche?)

No 3.5MM jack, No tap to pause sensor. No temperature sensor. For the most part, a newer Echo dot withg no extra stuff. Basically think of it as a old 3rd gen dot with better sound and different shape with no 3.5MM jack on it. Just an plain Echo only.
